On Monday, Dec. 21, Milton Javier Cardona-Guevara, 34, pled guilty to one count of illegal re-entry into the United States after deportation, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts.
The guilty plea stems from an October arrest in Worcester when police picked up Cardona-Guevara on an outstanding warrant for criminal charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
The first time Cardona-Guevara was deported was in 2006 after being convicted of improper entry by an alien.
Cardona-Guevara was found to have entered the U.S. without permission and was deported in 2008 and 2011 as well.
In 2018, Cardona-Guevara was arrested in Worcester County for assault with a dangerous weapon. He was deported again in January 2019, the U .S. Attorney’s Office said.
Cardona-Guevara returned to the U.S. in less than a year, and on Oct. 13, he was arrested in Worcester on a warrant.
Cardona-Guevara faces up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. Sentencing for Cardona-Guevara has been scheduled for April 2021.
Among the law enforcement entities that participated in the investigation, arrest, and prosecution of Cardona-Guevara are U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Worcester.
